Mindfulness and the Edge
Ross Hill shared the outline of a Mindful* conference with me one day in late December when he returned from a trip to South Africa. He had jetlag and couldn't sleep, so sat up and mapped out a Mindful* conference. His ideas were a convergence of many conversations we have had over the past two years since we met in Melbourne Australia.
Ross has a passion and background in entrepreneurship, events, technology and most things leading edge. I have a passion and background in customer service, events, meditation, and most things leading edge. We both have a love of social media.
We share a love for what is simultaneously on the edge and mindful; by definition, what is on the edge has to be mindful, otherwise it won't be on the edge.
I have always been drawn to push the edge in whatever environment I have found myself in. I always wondered what that was, that kept me moving, always seeking for more. After spending 10 years engaging in rigorous meditation practice, it was revealed to me that the drive for perpetual betterment is deep within us. It is the driving force of life. It is good, and it always wants to improve everything for everyone.
Once I saw deeply into life in this way, I started to be consciously motivated and directed by what I can give, rather than what I can receive, as that is the nature of the life force. It is not concerned with societal norms; it is concerned with liberating the life force, liberating itself. It wants to be free.
So what does this deep life force look like in its many different forms, this new life that is on the edge, that is creative and fresh and authentic and mindful. Mindful of caring ever more for others, always with the whole in mind. This is what we want to explore with this conference.
Ev Bogue is exploring the internet edge
Pete Williams is exploring the business edge
Ron Laurie is exploring all dimensions of human experience in life and in business, mindful to be inclusive of them all http://goo.gl/r94Hm
The conference is emergent by nature, as that is how the egde works - it is new, and it comes from depth - depth of experience, depth of insight, depth of knowledge. More speakers are emerging, as well as new ways to structure the day of the conference.
If you have always been drawn to push the edge come join us. We really look forward to building the day together with those of us who share a passion for life on the edge, for the new, and for the mindful.
